Happy Tuesday, Walnut Creek!
π‘ Did you know: Broadway Plaza opened on October 11, 1951 with 38 stores and 1,500 free parking spaces, making it one of the country's first open-air shopping centers. Seventy-five years later it's still the town square, which is why the summer concerts live there.
In todayβs edition:
ABBA closes out the summer concert series
Makers take over Broadway Plaza on Saturday
Free live music at Cypress and Main
A cocktail gets its own patio party
Art finds at the Discovery Shop
Summer plant swap
Plus: Oktoberfest dates to save now
Letβs get to it.

πΊ Summer Concert Series Finale: The ABBA Tribute
The free Summer Concert Series goes out singing this Thursday as Summer Night City, the Bay Area's ABBA tribute band, takes the Broadway Plaza stage for the season finale. Expect all of it: Dancing Queen, Mamma Mia, Take a Chance on Me, and a plaza full of people who swore they weren't going to dance.
The formula stays the same as all summer: grab dinner from a nearby restaurant, find a spot, and enjoy live music without buying a ticket. It's the last one until next year, and tribute nights have drawn the biggest crowds of the series. Come early if you want seating; standing room takes care of itself.

π Makers Market at Broadway Plaza

Broadway Plaza hosts an outdoor Makers Market Saturday, filling the plaza with local artisans selling handmade goods, art, jewelry, and small-batch food. Spend the afternoon browsing locally made finds, picking up something you wonβt see at the usual stores, and stopping for a bite or drink along the way. The market also pairs nicely with the rest of Saturdayβs downtown lineup: start with some shopping at the plaza, grab dinner nearby, then walk a couple of blocks to Main Street for live music in the evening.
