Happy Tuesday, Walnut Creek!
💡 Did you know: Downtown Walnut Creek has over 100 locally owned businesses. One of the reasons it still feels like a community hub, not just a shopping district.
In today’s edition:
A low-key way to get involved locally
Puppies, coffee, and weekend plans
A nostalgic night at the Lesher
A creative afternoon with paint + tea
A coffee-fueled social hang
Classic cars and a Saturday morning stroll
Spring shopping (if you’re already there)
Free tax help + a helpful local resource
Let’s get to it.

🤝 Volunteer Open House

Walnut Creek Downtown
If you’ve been meaning to get more involved locally, this is an easy place to start.
Walnut Creek Downtown is hosting a Volunteer Open House where you can learn about upcoming events, community initiatives, and ways to get involved behind the scenes. It’s designed to be more of a drop-in conversation than a formal commitment so you can ask questions, meet people, and see what actually fits your schedule.
The bonus here is the setting. It’s hosted at a brewery, which makes the whole thing feel more social and fun!
This is a great option if you’ve been looking to meet more people or just feel a little more connected to what’s happening around town.
📍 Where: Barebottle Brewing Company, Walnut Creek
📅 When: Thursday, April 9th | 4pm – 7pm

🐾 Puppy & Kitten Party

Joybound’s Puppy & Kitten Party
Possibly the easiest “yes” of the week.
Joybound’s Puppy & Kitten Party brings together adoptable puppies and kittens, along with games, activities, and family-friendly fun to celebrate the start of kitten season. It’s part adoption event, part community gathering, with plenty of chances to interact with animals and learn about fostering.
Whether you’re seriously considering adopting or just want a feel-good afternoon, this one will deliver.
📍 Where: Joybound People & Pets, 2890 Mitchell Dr
📅 When: Saturday, April 11th | 11am – 2pm

🎶 The Wonder of Elvis

Lesher Center
For a night that leans into nostalgia, this is a solid Friday plan.
The Wonder of Elvis brings the King’s biggest hits to the Lesher with a full tribute performance. The songs are instantly recognizable and as I’m sure you can imagine, the energy builds as the night goes on. Easy to enjoy whether you’re a longtime fan or just want a classic live performance.
📍 Where: Lesher Center for the Arts, 1601 Civic Dr
📅 When: Friday, April 10th | 7:30pm

🎨 Afternoon Tea Paint & Sip

If you’re in the mood for something creative but still relaxed, this is a nice change of pace.
This beginner-friendly workshop blends painting with a low-key social setting. Think abstract floral painting, complimentary tea, and light refreshments while you work. It’s less about getting everything “right” and more about experimenting with color, texture, and your own style.
You’ll leave with a finished piece, but the real draw is the process. Slow, social, and more about enjoying the moment than getting everything ‘right.’ A nice option for a casual girls’ day or small group outing.
📍 Where: Center for Community Arts, 111 N Wiget Ln
📅 When: Saturday, April 11th | 2pm – 4pm
💲 Price: $35
☕ Morning Coffee Party

Not your typical coffee run.
A daytime gathering with live music, coffee, matcha, and local vendors, all set up to feel more like an event than a café stop. There’s even a playful twist: guests wear color-coded wristbands that signal their vibe (or relationship status), which adds an easygoing way to meet people.
It’s casual, a little buzzy, and something different if you want a weekend plan that starts earlier than usual.
📍 Where: Stereo41, Walnut Creek
📅 When: Saturday, April 11 | 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

🚗 Las Lomas Cars & Coffee

An easy, drop-in kind of Saturday morning.
Cars & Coffee at Las Lomas brings together a mix of classic cars, newer builds, and a steady flow of people just there to walk around and take it in. There’s coffee, a few giveaways, and a relaxed, community feel. Plus it supports the school’s auto program, which gives it another reason to swing by.
Come for 10 minutes or stay longer, it’s that kind of event!
📍 Where: Las Lomas High School, Walnut Creek
📅 When: Saturday, April 11th | 9am – 11am
💲 Price: Free
🛍️ Spring Events at Macy’s (Broadway Plaza)

If you’re already heading to Broadway Plaza, this week is a good time to browse.
Macy’s is kicking off a series of spring promotions, including major seasonal sales (up to 40–60% off to start, with some events reaching up to 70%), plus upcoming in-store events like fragrance features and friends & family discounts later in the month.
Not a standalone destination, but a solid “while you’re there” if you’re in the mood to refresh a few things for spring.
📍 Where: Macy’s, Broadway Plaza
📅 When: Starts Wednesday, April 8 (runs through early May)
💲 Price: Free to attend (shopping optional)
🧾 AARP Tax Preparation Help

Not the most exciting item, but easily one of the most useful this week.
AARP volunteers are offering free, in-person tax preparation assistance at the Walnut Creek Library. It’s open to all ages (with a focus on those 50+), and you don’t need to be an AARP member to use the service. Volunteers can help walk through filings, answer questions, and make sure everything is submitted correctly.
Appointments are required, and you’ll need to bring key documents like ID, Social Security cards, and prior-year returns.
📍 Where: Walnut Creek Library
📅 When: Monday, April 13th | 10am – 3pm
💲 Price: Free (registration required)
